Second by second, I heard the song on Spotify the first time all from the very beginning to the end. It has been a while since I heard a song from Katy Perry— four years in fact. I still catch myself humming the tune to some of her great hits, “Firework” and “Dark House” for example. And in my opinion, Perry’s new single Chained To The Rhythm is extremely catchy and has a memorable beat. She collaborated with Skip Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson to which they released the song on Feb. 10 and performed it on the 2017 Grammys’ stage on Feb. 12. The song itself is very empowering, empowering people to want to get up and dance to the beat of the song. The part where Perry sings, “turn it up; it’s your favorite song…dance, dance, dance…” is my favorite line, because it is interesting that Perry made a song about another song that is catchy and good. However, this is not a song that I would put on my playlist or turn it up if heard on the radio. Along with this new song of Perry, she has a new album in plan and soon to be released of new information.
