It’s been over 7 years since the King of Pop passed away in 2009. It’s hard to imagine that so much time has gone by within the blink of an eye. Many things come and go, but one constant still remains: Michael Jackson’s music continues to resonate in the hearts of many. For me, listening to Michael Jackson’s songs was a large part of my childhood. Some of my favorite songs included “Smooth Criminal,” “Man in the Mirror,” and “Bad.”

Thousands of new songs are created every day, but I always find myself defaulting back to Jackson’s music when I’m looking for a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. Sometimes, it’s just hard to beat the classics; there’s a style that Jackson portrayed that no other music artist can really match. “Bad” is a simple, but really catchy song. It’s hard to not want to dance and sing along when he sings and repeats the chorus. Because of its simplicity, the song gets stuck in my head really easily.

“You know I’m bad, I’m bad come on, you know,” he sings.

It’s amazing that people are still able to enjoy an artist’s works after he or she passes away. When people continue to listen to artists’ works, it feels as though the artists never really left the world. Even though he is unable to moonwalk across stages or create new songs, Jackson left an enormous legacy through his songs that continues to live on and survive the ages.

Listen to Michael Jackson’s “Bad” here.
