In late January, several threats were made toward Gabrielino and Rosemead High School. Both of these schools are relatively close in distance to the location of the Monterey Park shooting, and have left the neighborhoods on guard so soon after the incident.

The bomb threat against Gabrielino was made on Jan. 24, early in the morning. With the school in session at the time, students and staff were made to evacuate the premises as the police investigated. Around 3:20 p.m., the school was officially declared to be clear, and all students had been accounted for.

Six days later, on Jan. 30, Rosemead High School experienced a similar occurrence; a bomb threat was made against the school, leading to an evacuation before the school was deemed safe.
