Scholarship displacement ban effective soon
Read Time24 Second
Scholarship displacement is a phenomenon in which universities lower the amount of financial aid they would have given to students who possess or earn private grants. A bill outlawing the practice was passed on Aug. 22 and signed on Sept. 30. The ban on scholarship displacement in California will take effect starting the 2023-24 school year for low-income students in public and private universities. Currently, California is one of five states who have banned it.
