With colder temperatures and more rain coming to Los Angeles in the coming season, a cup of some warm, nice, and homemade hot cocoa would be perfect to drink. Compared to store bought powder, making your own hot cocoa gives it a more authentic and creamy taste. The ingredients that you will need for this recipe are unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, a pinch of salt, milk, boiling water, and vanilla extract. The amount of sugar put in will depend on how sweet you want it to be and besides milk, you can also use a combination, like half and half or cream.

Once you have all the ingredients, combine the cocoa, sugar, and the salt in a saucepan over medium low heat until everything is dissolved. Afterwards, add in the boiling water and stir the mixture to an easy boil. Stir this for about two minutes and add the milk and vanilla extract. Whisk the whole thing together until it is hot, but make sure not to boil it.

After finishing this process, you now have a nice and warm cup of hot cocoa. To give it a little more spice, you can add marshmallows or cinnamon on top. A simple recipe like this can be made anytime for friends and family on a rainy or cold day.
