After a successful 12 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy has returned to ABC to air season 13. The series has been ongoing since 2005, and there is a reason why it has lasted this long. I had barely gotten into the series, but once I started, I could not stop watching. The medical drama follows several surgeons through their romances and extraordinary surgeries.

Set at a hospital in Seattle, Wash., the show exhibits gruesome accidents and body parts that are not normally seen in other shows. Although it does not sound pleasant to watch, you slowly get used to all the blood, and as a bonus, you learn medical terminology. The drama is similar to a typical career cycle where the characters start as interns, and once they become residents at the hospital, they each get a new set of interns. I did not like the characters at first, but I gradually got so invested in the characters that certain scenes made me cry.

I think the series has educated me in the medical field more than anything else, which is why you should watch if you plan to enter that field in the future. In addition, the drama and romance is a plus for people who love plot twists and love stories. The show also addresses all kinds of scenarios that people can relate to, such as dealing with family pressure or family members that experience the same type of illness.

I highly recommend Grey’s Anatomy but only if you have the time. Each episode is about 40 minutes and every minute of it is intense and suspenseful. The new season is highly anticipated for viewers that have stuck with the show and are looking for answers from the previous season. Ultimately, I think giving Grey’s Anatomy a chance was one of the best decisions I have made because it turned out to be one of my all-time favorite TV series.
