After concerns regarding student’s accessibility to food during remote learning, Executive Director of Nutrition and Food Services Vivien Watts voiced the need for the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) eventually granted the district a waiver to operate the SSO. Anyone 18 and under will receive a free meal.

Families in need of meals can sign up for this program at www.myschoolapps.com/Application. As school meal programs are administered by the USDA, the federal government will decide whether the program will continue. If a waiver is provided after the pandemic, Watts will recommend the district to continue SSO and keep advocating for the students.
