Whitman gets water filter from fundraising

Environmental and Earth Science teacher David Whitman stands by his water filter, which is located in his class (E207), filling up a water bottle. He hopes to make San Gabriel High School more environmentally friendly by reducing the use of plastic water bottles, thus saving money as well. The filter is motion-activated and has so far filled over 250 bottles. It cost $799, and extra filters cost another $95 each, but they were paid for by the collective effort of Whitman’s fundraising campaign and students’ donations. He walked around campus during lunch for nine days and collected $1,074.02 in order to broadcast his endeavor.
