California’s new minimum wage increased to $15.50 per hour by enactment of the Senate Bill 3. This was effective on January 1, 2023. However, the federal minimum wage remains to be $7.25 per hour. California is one of the 23 states — and Washington D.C — that increased its minimum wage this year. Minimum wages of at least $15 will be raised annually if inflation exceeds 7% in California.
