From the end of December to mid-January, California has been flooding, a result of climate change and atmospheric rivers colliding. As greenhouse gases trap the sun’s heat, the warmer air is capable of holding more moisture. Because of intense rains, parts of northern California, Southern California, and California’s central coast have been flooding. President Biden declared a major disaster declaration as a result of the intense rain — the damages’ cost has risen up to the billions and at least 19 were killed.
