Delicate, creamy, with a coffee-flavored aroma—all of your best wishes combined onto a plate. This tiramisu recipe will not disappoint when craving a delicious dessert that is not overpoweringly sweet.

Ingredients (6 to 8 servings):

  • 1 cup of instant coffee
  • 24 ladyfingers (biscuits)
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • 24 ladyfingers (biscuits)
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • 500 grams mascarpone
  • 2 tablespoons of coffee with water
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch of salt

Directions:

  1. Combine 1 cup of coffee with a mix of coffee and water in a bowl to form a mixture.
  2. Lay the ladyfingers on an 8×8 inch pan and pour the coffee and water mixture until ladyfingers are fully soaked, or until ladyfingers are no longer fluffy.
  3. Separate egg yolks from whites and place the whites together in a bowl to refrigerate.
  4. Beat the egg yolks with half a cup of sugar until the yolks turn into a lighter color or the volume has increased.
  5. Add the mascarpone to the yolk-sugar mixture.
  6. Take out the whites from the fridge, add a pinch of salt, and mix until it becomes foamy.
  7. Add the white foam mixture to the yolk-sugar mixture and gently mix together. Put the pan in the fridge overnight or until the tiramisu becomes solid.
  8. After the tiramisu becomes solid, use a strainer to sprinkle the unsweetened cocoa powder on top.

The ingredients can be substituted if one is concerned about the ingredient list. For example, if one is concerned about the caffeine in the espresso or coffee, it can be replaced with decaffeinated coffee. Additionally, the substitution will not change the classic Tiramisu flavor.
