Everything, everything movie preview

I’ve seen movie posters and still-pictures of the movie Everything, Everything, but I did not watch the actual trailer until I came across a YouTube advertisement. The trailer does not give away too much of the movie except for a hint of the vaguest plotline of a girl who cannot leave her house due to medical circumstances, falling for the boy next door.

The movie is based on the novel, “Everything, Everything” written by Nicola Yoon, a woman of color herself. The plotline is super cheesy, but it is the cast really that makes the movie so significant. The two main leads are played by Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson.

Before coming across the movie, I’ve seen Stenberg passionately talking about subject matters that involved her heritage, and the unfortunate lack of diversity in Hollywood. It was amazing to see, in my eyes, Stenberg, an African American woman, become the lead of a movie alongside a caucasian in no stereotyped or extreme setting.

The movie premieres on May 19 in most AMC and Edward’s locations.
