The sun is up, school is out, and you are stuck at home watching Netflix because you have no idea what to do this summer, right? Well, fear no more; here are some fun things to do this summer.

Summer is always ridiculously hot, so why not go out for a swim? Local pools usually have certain hours where you can go swimming at a reasonable price. The Rosemead Aquatics Center charges $3 to attend the lap swims, which goes on every day from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, the splash zone at Garvey Park is $1 for residents 17 and younger, and $2 for residents over the age of 18. If going to the local pool is not your thing, there are many other options. Summertime is always a great time to go to the beach with family, friends, or both. Also, water parks are open during the summer, but are a bit more on the expensive side.

Other fun ideas to consider during the summer are to go exploring and take a hike. There are various different areas to go for a hike around the Los Angeles area. A great place to go enjoy nature and take a stroll is the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. The Arboretum is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and costs $6 for students with IDs and $9 for everyone else. Every third Tuesday of the month, the admission is free. The Arboretum has different gardens, waterfalls, lakes, and historical sites. Taking a walk, hike, or run and enjoying nature is another great way to enjoy summer.

Missing your friends and want to hang out with them? Why not have a summer cookout or barbeque? Have your friends chip in to buy food and beverages for your cookout and gather at someone’s house. While together, why not have a water balloon fight as well? Or, make this get together a throwback-themed party and play activities you all enjoyed as kids. Another alternative to having a barbeque is to gather up at a park and have a picnic.

If you would rather do some summer night activities, here are some suggestions. Drive-in theaters still exist and at times show movies for a lot more cheaper than regular movie theaters. There are also a lot of night concerts in the summertime and many are held at local parks. Farmers markets are also a big hit during the evening and are usually a lot of fun to attend.

There are many different ways to bring some fun into your summer break. Whether it is going for a swim or a hike, having a picnic, or watching a movie, they will all bring great memories. It does not matter whether you try these suggestions or come up with some other activities to do; just make sure to make your summer memorable and fun.
