FBLA competes in Section Leadership Conference
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) arrived at Six Flags early in the morning to compete in different business events at the Section Leadership Conference. These events ranged from Accounting I to Word Processing.
Competitors were taken at the East Pavilion or the Gearworks Theatre, in which a total of three one-hour sessions took place.
“[I] was more nervous,” FBLA Adviser Qui Nguy said, “because less students were in my classes so I didn’t know if we would do that good.”
After the exams, the awards ceremony took place at the GearWorks Theater. Contestants waited for their names to be announced and when their event was on count, students were awarded from tenth to first place. Weeks prior to Section, two mandatory study sessions took place in Nguy’s room after school, in preparation for the competition.
Once more, FBLA’s chapter contrived an effort to overcome champion Gabrielino High School for the second year in a row.
“I feel excited, proud, thrilled,” Nguy said. “[The competition] made the team cheer more and it brought unity to the team.”
San Gabriel High’s FBLA came in first place in overall achievement and received a Sweepstakes Award. Students who placed top five are qualified to a three-day State Leadership Conference, which will take place in Ontario on April 14-17.
