The smell of fresh mango filled my nose as I walked into the Sweet Heart Dessert House. Craving Hong Kong desserts and snacks, I went to the new dessert place in a small plaza in Rosemead. The first thing that caught my eyes when I walked into the restaurant were the clean-cut drawings of ballerinas on the walls that gave the place a modern feel. The bustling atmosphere inside made me feel like I was actually in Hong Kong.

The waiters greeted me warmly and let me choose my seat from the remaining tables. As I sat down and looked at the menu, I noticed that most of the desserts were centered around mango, so I was a bit disappointed from the lack of variety. However, I was glad that the prices of most of the dishes were under 10 dollars. I ended up ordering deep fried squid, curry fish balls, and mango pills, which consisted of mango, ice, tapioca balls, taro, and mochi.

When the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the servings. The mango pills was larger than I thought they would be, and they were definitely worth the price. The deep fried squid and the curry fish balls were also arranged neatly in their respective plates.

The sweet and chilled taste of mango filled my mouth as I tried the mango pills. The mango in the dessert had just the right amount of sweetness, and the mochi accompanying the dish melted in my mouth. The mango, mochi, and the tapioca balls meshed together surprisingly well. My favorite part of the mango pills was the taro flavored mochi, since it complemented the dish well. The deep fried squid and the curry fish balls were also well done and extremely tasty.

After trying the mango pills, I decided I did not mind that the whole dessert menu was centered around mango. The three dishes solidified my opinion that the Sweet Heart Dessert House is a cozy and modern restaurant containing authentic Hong Kong food.

The Sweet Heart Dessert House is located on East Valley Boulevard in Rosemead. With a warm atmosphere, good service, affordable prices and tasty food, I would give the Sweet Heart Dessert House 4 out of 5 stars.
